Hollywood Hills West Neighborhood Council is open to anyone who lives, works, owns property, worships or volunteers within the set boundaries. It is free and simple to register as a stakeholder.
The HHWNC Board of Directors is the governing body for this Council. The Council is comprised of 23 seats (5 executive officers, 9 area committee chairs and 9 issue committee chairs). HHWNC is committed to, and its bylaws require, transparency and openness. All board and committee meetings are posted and open to the public.
Neighborhood Councils were mandated by the new Los Angeles City Charter in June of 1999. They were created to give neighborhoods a voice in policy making and influence over the way government does business. The Neighborhood Council system is already having an effect. Eventually, every neighborhood in Los Angeles will have a Council. To date, 83 have been certified.
